Sri Lankan leaders condemn Pahalgam terrorist assault

Sri Lankan leaders on Wednesday (April 23, 2025) strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashir that claimed not less than 26 lives.

In a publish on social media platform ‘X’, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake mentioned: “I condemn within the strongest phrases the cowardly terrorist assault in India. Our hearts are with the victims and their households. Sri Lanka all the time stands in solidarity with the folks of India.”

Chief of Opposition Sajith Premadasa mentioned: “I strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist assault in Jammu & Kashmir. Violence in opposition to harmless civilians is a grave crime in opposition to humanity. We stand in solidarity with the victims, their households, and the folks of India. We should stand united in opposition to terror all the time.”

Earlier, on Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had expressed solidarity with India.

Days in the past, Sri Lanka marked the sixth anniversary of the Easter Sunday terror assaults that shook the island nation in April 2019.
